PSCA Position Statement

At the April 21, 2005 meeting, the PSCA Governing Board archived its existing position and resolution statements and adopted all of the following ASCA position statements with the exception of Academic and Career Planning which was adopted April, 2007.  The American School Counselor Association has developed position statements on a variety of topics related to the role and function of professional school counselors. The position statements are invaluable resources that can be used as advocacy tools to support activities and programs and to respond to many questions about school counseling and school counseling related issues or concerns. The PSCA Governing Board has adopted all of the current ASCA position statements.  Position Statements are reviewed and revised on a rotating basis. The annual ASCA Delegate Assembly, to which PSCA sends two voting delegates, addresses revision of position statements, the introduction of new statements and the archiving of outdated statements.
